Mr. Brenton maintains an insurance defense practice with a primary concentration in workers' compensation matters. He obtained his undergraduate degree with high honors from the Honors College at Michigan State University. He received his Juris Doctor degree from the University of Notre Dame and was admitted to the Michigan Bar in 1976.
The Martindale-Hubbell Law Directory has selected Mr. Brenton for inclusion in the Bar Register of Pre-Eminent Lawyers, and he is listed in Who's Who in American Law.
Through a peer review process, he has been named a 2009 Michigan
Super Lawyer® and
is listed in the 2010 edition of Best Lawyers in America®. Mr. Brenton has been an elected member of the Workers' Compensation Section Council of the State Bar of Michigan, where he served in all officer positions, including Chairperson. He is a Special Assistant Attorney General for the State of Michigan, and he serves as the Michigan Workers' Compensation Liaison for the Defense Research Institute.
He has provided leadership in numerous seminars conducted by the
Workers' Compensation Section of the Michigan Bar, and has been
a guest lecturer on the subject of workers' compensation in many
forums, including Thomas M. Cooley Law School. He is a
recognized author in the field, with several articles appearing
in the Wayne Law Review. Mr. Brenton is President of the Greater
Lansing Vintners Club, and he has served on the State Bar
Journal Advisory Board, the Arthritis Foundation Board of
Directors, and as an adjunct member, the Workers' Compensation Appeal Board.
He is also co-chairperson of the Annual Greater Lansing Cystic
Fibrosis Foundation fund raising event.
